David Yawn has worked for 20 years as a journalist in various full-time capacities spanning public journalism to corporate editing. The first half of his career was spent as senior staff writer for Memphis Business Journal, where he covered commercial real estate, international business, transportation, distribution and logistics, chiefly. The second half consisted of editorial positions of responsibility at FedEx worldwide headquarters in Memphis, then as supervisor of publications at International Paper headquarters.

At FedEx, he was responsible for international customer service publications that went to 34 non-U.S. call centers on a regular basis. While at IP, he headed the companywide employee full-color magazine, which had press runs of 125,000 issues six times yearly. Now leading his own practice, this award-winning writer helps a host of clients. David Yawn Communications is chiefly engaged in promotional business writing in all of its forms, including press releases, newsletter content, advertorials and corporate histories.

He started David Yawn Communications in June of 2002 and has been serving the businesses of the Mid-South ever since. He is also invited frequently on invitational press trips conducted by various nations in Europe, returning to file reports for readers in the Mid South and the rest of the United States.
